Disability Working

HAFADs Disability working project aims to increase employment and career opportunities for disabled people in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. We provide services for job seekers and employers of disabled people. Some of the services we offer are:

Services for disabled job seekers

  • Support with job search (writing CVs, application forms, covering letters etc)
  • Developing and practicing interview skills.
  • Finding suitable job vacancies and using the internet for job search identifying your skills and matching your skills to suitable jobs.
  • Information on and support to attend employment fairs/events.
  • Referral to local Disability Employment Advisor and other useful employment services.
  • Information on Jobcentre Plus schemes to help you back into work (e.g. Access to Work/New Deal/WORKSTEP etc)
  • Information on reasonable adjustments for interviews/placements/jobs etc.
  • Information on the Disability Symbol and positive employers.
  • Building your confidence and motivation around finding employment.
  • Support with researching different jobs – finding out what they involve.
  • Finding and applying for a suitable education/training course.
  • Finding a voluntary work opportunity /work experience placement .  
  • Understanding benefits and moving into work.                                          
  • Follow-up support for you and your employer when you start work      

 Services for employer

  • Information and advice on how the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 affects your business.
  • Support and assistance to identify sources of equipment loans and support while waiting for Access to Work applications to be completed.
  • Support with understanding the Access to Work process.
  • Information and support with identifying and making reasonable adjustments to a job role, work placement, selection procedure etc.
  • Information on accessible selection methods and techniques (application forms, tests, interviews)
  • Information on the Business Case and benefits of employing disabled people.
  • Information & advice on additional financial and practical support available to support disabled candidates during recruitment and employment.
  • On-site job coaching support, if required, once candidate starts work to assist the transition into employment.
  • Free advertising of your job vacancies to suitably qualified local candidates – helping you to access a talented pool of job seekers.
